The Zane Trace High School Marching Band season is now over. It started on August 22, 2003 at the ZT vs.
Millersport Football game and continued throughout the football season at all the ZT games. Our 2003 Halftime Show was
a tribute to Paul Simon. The 4 songs include: The Paul Simon Opener (Bridge Over Troubled Water/You Can Call Me Al) with trio
Donna Speakman and Megan Eubanks (Piccolo) and Derek Speath (Baritone Saxaphone). The Paul Simon Production (Still Crazy After
All These Years/50 Ways to Leave Your Lover) with solo by Michele Bennett or Mitch Joseph (Trumpet) and Trombone Trio
Elizabeth Karr, Gavin Speath, and Matt Handley. Late in the Evening featuring Trombone soloist Elizabeth Karr and the Drum
Line. And our forth number, The Paul Simon Closer (The Sound of Silence/You Can Call Me Al) with trumpet soloist Jenny Ellis.
The High school band was seen at the Hallsville Parade (September 6, 2003) and Ross County Marching Band Festival
(October 12, 2003 @ Unioto High School). The band was also be joined by the junior high bands at the Circleville Pumpkin Show
(October 16, 2003), Bainbridge Fall Festival of Leaves (October 19, 2003) and Chillicothe Halloween Parade (October 25, 2003).
Our final marching band performance was our annual "One More Time" concert held on October 30, 2003 in the Zane
Trace High School cafetorium.
The bands held their Christmas concert on December 18, 2003 at 7:30pm in the Junior High
Gymnasium. The fifth and sixth grade bands played a few selections including: "Jingle Bells", "My Dreidl", "Frere Jaques",
"Ode to Joy", "Up On A Housetop", "Joly Old St. Nick", "Drums on the Housetop", "Silent Night", "A Chrsitmas Sampler". They
were followed by the Jr. High Band who played: "Instant Christmas Spirit", "Christmastime with Charlie Brown", and "Holiday
Festival". The High School band played 4 selections including: "Candlelight Carol", "Good King Wenceslas", "A Festive
Christmas", and "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming".
On February 21, 2004 some high school band members chose to participate in Solo and Ensamble competition
held at RULH High School in Ripley, Ohio. The participants included: Ali Brown, Sam Colopy, Cory Carmean, Tiffany Manasco,
Jennifer Ellis, Sean Carmean, Andy Ellis, Hannah Avery, Martha Coretti, Clarinet Quartet (Tiffany Manasco, Hannah Avery,
Martha Coretti, and Ali Brown), and Percussion Ensamble (Nick Thurston, Sam Colopy, Cory Carmean, Derek Speath, and Timmy
Morgan).
On March 13, 2004 the high school concert band will be participating in a large ensamble contest held at
Miami Trace High School. They will be playing: "In the Winter of 1730", "Flight of Valor", and "Glorioso". To prepare for
the contest the band will be holding a concert on March 11, 2004 at 7:00pm in the high school gymnasium.
This spring on May 4-9, 2004, the Zane Trace bands (Grades 7-12) will be traveling to Orlando, Florida to
perform at Walt Disney World. Planning for the trip is well underway and the bands are becoming more excited as time passes.
